I went and saw Hero with Kris tonight. I'm going to say what I bet like 5,000,000 other people have said about it... if you liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, you will like this movie. I thought it was beautiful and well done, with a good story to tell. The imagery is amazing... I love the use of colors. It'd be nice to see it at the IMAX. Anyway, it has my highest movie-going recommendations.

I have nothing further to report.

I got my DewU watch today, hooray! It's pretty cool I think, real nice and heavy. I like heavy things... heavy watches, big solid metal things... whatever. Anyways yeah it's cool. I've heard reports from Bizarro Mitchell (not my cousin, lives in Indiana I think, wherever IN is) that the watch sucks and the little open button just falls off, but we'll see if that proves true with mine. Hope not! That'd be gay. They'd hear from my imaginary lawyers.

Ah, 10:45 PM, Thursday, and I'm tired as hell. I was tired at 9:30. I'm already hiding my ring...

Really though, I'm going to do okay this semester. I can "do" all these classes. They're easy. Easy fo sheezy. I figured out, that if millions of way stupider (hehe, stupider) kids than me can do trigonometry and more advanced math, there's nothing keeping me from being good at it but me. So I may have to study a little harder... I may have to do more problems, read over more things, check out websites, maybe even join a study group or get a tutor. So what if math doesn't come to me naturally? Either did driving a stick, but I got the hang of it. Patience and practice. Perseverance, patience, practice, and other motivational p-words. Maybe I'm not good at math now, but I'm going to be a fucking wizard by this time next year. Mark my words, bitches! I feel like I've said that before. Y'know with my memory being what it is, I often wonder if I'm not just sitting here repeating myself all the time without knowing it. You'd think the fact that I keep a LOG of these things would prevent that... but no. I don't read this shit! Heh.

Ah... other news. I'm working on converting my mom to the Church of Jon Stewart. That Kerry interview he scored really gave him some credibility in my mom's eyes. She actually thought fake journalism wasn't serious! I'm stuck at this one place in Splinter Cell... YEAH, I've already beat the game, but let's not forget I'm still a retard regardless. As if I didn't remind you of it all the time... like... every time I talk. Which is all the time... because this is my blog, and you come here and read it, and all it is is me talking. This fact should be firmly implanted in your brain. What was I talking about?

I really have nothing valuable to say at all... not a thing in the whole wide world. Oooh I watched Modern Marvels today, they were talking about machining. That stuff is amazing... they were showing how machining technology has improved through the ages, from a simple hand drill, to a post drill, to the advent of number system technology that allowed them to set up essentially sequences of tasks for a large machining system to read from a punch card, so it would do this one thing, then do this next thing, and it could do all these things automatically whereas before it could only perform one task at a time. Way to go IBM. Then they showed modern machining which is just astounding... the huge presses, the automatic hole drilling machines that will skip along something and drill holes in all kinds of different places all on it's own like all super-fast. Anyways, that show is awesome. I wish it had it's own channel, like how Law and Order is on all the time on some channel I never watch, I want Modern Marvels to be on all the time too. I'd learn a lot I bet. Oh well... guess I'll just stay stupid. Stupid... with an excuse!

08.25.04

Well my two "first days" for classes are out of the way. Now I just have to make it through till December 8th.

My birthday is coming up in a little over a month here... I'm going to be twenty-four. A twenty-four year old freshman in fact. I transferred 27 credits over from Front Range, one class short of being a sophomore. Ho hum. God that's depressing. It's going to be a very long 3-to-4 years. And I have a funny feeling CU's charms will wear off by, oh, probably summer. So I guess this would be the newlywed/honeymoon phase of our relationship. Before I know it, it'll be tv dinners in front of the tv every night and going to bed at 8pm, wishing for death, or... I'll graduate. Then I can dump CU and hook up with a young new hottie. Hmm. My analogy may not have carried over as gracefully as I would've liked. The good news is that the school offers free counseling... I'm going to need it :D

How do people ever get masters's's? Or doctorates? Are they different? I can never remember. What the hell does Ph. D. stand for anyways? And why do they call a watch a watch? Short for wristwatch right? But why'd they call it a wristwatch anyways?

I would love to take a class that linked English words to their predecessors, explained where they came from, etc. I guess that'd be Latin. Latin would probably be awesome to know in order to figure out what English words mean that you don't know. Not to mention you'd know what the hell all the buildings in Denver are called... geez. Who's the idiot that planned that one? I guess the Greek alphabet doesn't have a J. I learned that recently. Maybe they gust used g's for every j word. Seems like an overlap anyways. Whatever. I have like 30 words to look up for Canterbury Tales... best get to it. I'm totally using dictionary.com... who would use a real paper dictionary any more? Actually "look up" words? Sheesh... what're we ANIMALS? Hehe.

08.24.04

Not much on the agenda today. School at 4. May clean my room before then... running pretty low on walking space. Winamp's shuffle sucks so much. I listen to mp3s on my computer just about every moment I'm at my computer. I have something like, well a lot of mp3s. I put my list on shuffle, and I hear the same songs, over and over. So sometimes I peruse my list to see what else I have, and I see songs I haven't heard in so long I forgot I even had them. What kind of crappy shuffling is that? This seems to be regardless of the little "shuffle" setting where you can set how much you'd like to morph the list. I'm going to start taking out every repeated song from my list, then hopefully it can start repeating different songs. I'm wondering whether it'd be better to randomize the list, then play that straight through. Seems kind of the same though. I don't know. It's probably not actually very important, just one of those little millions of little annoyances that make up life.

School was fine... boring as first days always are. Auraria campus has like 2.3 billion students... bit of a jump up from quaint little Front Range. I'm going to start logging all my experiences of course. I never mentioned any of my teachers names when I griped about FRCC just for fear of my grades, I imagine that policy will continue. I was thinking of writing an end-of-degree review of Front Range, to kind of rate my experiences and all of that. I don't really care any more though. It's in the past already. I had some great teachers, and I had some lousy teachers, and then I had some okay teachers. The majority of the teachers that I had fit into the "okay" category, which probably had a lot to do with how interested I was in the subject matter. They were all pretty good. My good experiences outnumbered the bad ones. That's probably all the review that needs writing.

I'm going to go eat then do some reading. I have reading homework already, pshhh. Reading Canterbury Tales... that's... something.

08.22.04

Time sure flies when you're on a 23 day vacation from all forms of responsibility. You guessed it... I gotta go back to school tomorrow. Principles of Macroeconomics, Great Literary Works by British and American Authors, College Trigonometry, and Introductory Chemistry. Giddyup. School... ho hum. Same thing different building... uhh... different city. Core classes are such a drag. Chemistry might be cool I guess. Then again it might suck. At least I'm bound to learn something.

08.19.04

Well yesterday was... iiiinteresting. I took the bus down to Denver with my mom so she could show me the ropes of public transportation as they say, boy did I see those ropes. We got to CU, that was cool, two buses, like 45 minutes, that's all cool. But then it started raining. That was okay, because we were in the building where the student orientation I had to go to was in. But wait no, the actual orientation was like 3 buildings away through that drenching, all consuming downpour that lasted like all of yesterday afternoon and into the night. So we get there, start drying off, okay. But then wait! Now that you're all checked in, actual orientation is like right next to back where you started! More trudging through drenching rain. Between being shuffled around there, waiting at bus stops, and all around getting from point A to point B yesterday, I was completely soaked for like, 8 hours. Anyhow no more time for details... gotta go!

08.17.04

Okay kids, graduation pics are posted (I'm sure you're just SO EXCITED). No, no one got drunk and passed out on the lawn, it was more of a nice family gathering with cake. Check out the pics here.

08.17.04

Well today is an important day. Let's see... deadline for DewU points is tomorrow. So I get to spend all my points right now!!! Yay!!!

Wow that took all of like, 5 minutes to blow all those points. I bought a Mountain Dew Belt Loop Watch for 60 points, which is pretty awesome, and then blew the rest on the Sweepstakes. If I win the $1000, I promise to give everyone that sent me points "something". Yep, that's right, "something", in quotes! Bet you wish you could take yours back now, eh? HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA YOU CAN'T! SUCKERS! Hope they never have another contest, I'm kind of burning bridges here.

That was fun though, wasn't it? That whole, you coming to my site and sending me points, and getting your name in lights, and then me not hitting my mark so having to settle for something else. Well I thought it was fun still. I'm amazed I got sent any points at all... let alone... 54 points! They like me, they really like me!

Shaun and I were originally tied for first place, so I took out the Anonymous listing since they were still points I had collected, just not paid for, so that gave me 4 more points and secured my first place victory. I'll make trophies tomorrow... right now I'm tired and I don't care. I mean trophies for 2nd place Shaun and 3rd place Mitchell, not for myself. I guess in reality I should give up first place and not even HAVE a place in the listing, but frankly I'm just not that nice.

I'm going to post pics from my graduation party soon, just not tonight since I'm tired. I played some Multiplayer Splinter Cell... got yelled at for bein' a n00b. Ahh, the good old days. I kinda wish all that single player awesomeness I built up would carry over into multiplayer... I don't want to feel like a n00b when I've beat the game already, sheesh. But it's cool that it's almost like a second game because of the different aspects. Yep. Well, good night, suckers.

08.13.04

I hadn't figured it out until today, but this revelation came to me as quite a shock. You have cavities, which is why you get fillings. We all know this. A cavity though, is a CAVITY. It's like, a SPACE, like a CAVERN, a CAVITY. Which is why you get a filling, you FILL the SPACE, the CAVITY. Why I never connected those words with their meanings before, I have no idea. I was just thinking all these years that they were special dentist terms. I think I have a cavity in my head.

Anyways! Hmm. My room is so beautiful right now... I think I'm going to take a picture to remember it by. All cleaned, dusted, windex'd, vacuumed... boy howdy. I'm the dirtiest thing in here! Hehe doh! Graduation party is soon... yes, yes it is. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or perhaps my brain cavity is succumbing to cleaning fumes. Who said cleaning never killed anybody? Cleaning supplies should be lassoed in with that statistic... I bet cleaning supplies kill all sorts of people. Right up there with weed whackers I bet. And polio.

Guess I'll get back to being productive.

08.13.04

Ahhhh yes folks, the boyfriend Kris, for my graduation gift, gets me... *drumroll*...

AN XBOX LIVE KIT!!! NICE!!!

Man that kid could forget my birthday 5 times in a row, kill all my fish, and kick my dog, and I'd still be happy. Thank you Kris! Umm... please don't go do all that stuff.

Life is good. Happy Friday the 13th. I had a dentist appointment on Friday the 13th... how brave am I? Truthfully I hadn't noticed until AFTER heh. My face hurts (and yeah, it's probably killing you too, I know that one, thanks). Back to cleaning and such... party is tomorrow! Yay!

08.13.04

Well here's something you don't see every day. A little light reading before I go to the dentist *sigh*.

What happens if you don't pay your minimum on a credit card? It's a credit card... can't it just pay for itself? Damn credit... damn it all to hell. I guess my new credit strategy is to get a 0.00% balanced transfer for 12 months APR-something-er-other (I don't know creditspeak) and transfer my current Wells Fargo credit card balance over to that card so I can stop getting raped by interest. That's cool... that means I can go a whole year and not have to make any payments. Of course that won't make it any smaller, but oh, who cares. I'll let Sarah-a-year-from-now worry about it. Of course that's how Sarah-right-now has all this debt... Sarah-a-year-ago screwed me over. Damn that mismanagement, someone should really fire me. I need to hire an HR person to fire me, but I need an HR person to hire an HR person to fire me. Tricky! Maybe someone should just kick my ass.

Anywho, not a whole lot going on for me this week other than cleaning and preparation. I'm going to remember this next time I want to have some kind of party, this sucks. Everyone knows I'm a total slob, I dunno why *I* have to clean. I guess my mom is probably using the party as an excuse to make me clean a bunch of stuff. When I have a house, I'm going to make sure it comes stocked with illegal immigrants that will work for like a dollar an hour so I will never have to clean anything. Of course I will have to learn some more Spanish, but that's cool, the mexicans will consume Colorado any day now so I may as well be ready. Oh and I guess I'd become "part of the problem" as well... damn. Maybe I'll use some other countries illegal immigrants... I will have to do some research to see whose country can offer the best housekeeping.

Seriously though... it used to be that you'd only be exposed to Spanish language catering on 1-800 numbers... now there's a spanish birthday card section at the grocery store, they play spanish music, there are ad messages in spanish... everything is turning to two languages. I don't have a problem with hispanics, but I do have a problem with the fact that the more businesses make it so an exclusively Spanish speaking American has no need to learn English, the more they divide people and raise the language barrier. Then they have no reason to ever learn the language of the land, no incentive. The more we cater to their non-english speaking ways, the more accommodating we are, the less reason they have to ever learn English. Then you have a state divided, between two groups of people that can't understand eachother at all. How retarded is that?

This sure pisses me off. I think if I went to Japan or somewhere, it'd be awesome to run across people that spoke English. But I wouldn't expect their whole country to sell out to English folk... which I guess is how I see what's going on in Colorado.

Who's to blame? You can't blame a business for wanting to usher in new customers by catering to that particular market, but they are partially to blame for creating an environment that encourages more foreigners to come here because they won't have to learn English. You can't blame the government and legislatures for doing what they can to deal with the way things are, but can you blame loose restrictions on who can come here and what they can do?

Can you blame the methods by which these people got here in the first place? I think so. I wish Colorado could shut its borders. Would that be entirely unreasonable? I mean, we have plenty of people already... don't need more of those. We have serious, serious traffic issues as it is. We probably even have too many people, and not enough jobs. Unemployment sucks. When you have people with bachelor's degrees taking shit work because there's nothing else out there, something is really screwed up. Or when you have the educated out of work because some illegal immigrant is willing to do the work for less money and no benefits, well, what a mess. I really hate Colorado every time I stop and think about it. It just seems like we're setting ourselves up to be a nice immigrant haven, and at some point I'll have to learn Spanish to get a freaking job.

What sucks even more is the lack of responsibility to the community I suspect a lot of businesses feel in this regard. It's hard to say "Hey you're a business, I know you want to make money, but can you not fuck us over in the meantime?" to any business... but at some point, someone should probably start saying it. I'm already boycotting Walmart and unofficially Blockbuster... I may have to consider extending that. It is the only power I have. Boo hoo... cry cry. Back to cleaning I go.

08.08.04

A point from A-dogg! (That's Anthony for all you white people). 71 points! Swish!

08.07.04

Point from Lindgren! I'm almost in a whole other point bracket for crap I can get! Woohoo! Maybe I will get all my friends prizes? Hehe yeah, and maybe I will get a job and move out and turn my life around. Pshaw! It's amazing I have any friends, I know.

08.06.04

3 more points from my cuz... nice! Mitchell is quickly approaching Shaun for first place! Dun dun DUN! So I would've had 71 points but then I accidentally went and gambled 2 away. Whoopsy doodle! Damn that mismanagement huh? Good thing I'm not in charge of anything that actually matters. I had an interview today... that went okay. I find out around Monday whether I got the job or not... it'll be a long weekend of finger crossing. Not much else going on... my vacation time is going by way too fast so I think I'm going to have to really accomplish some stuff this weekend so I feel like it's not going to waste. On the list of activity considerations: charting out my entire CU class schedule for the next 3 and a half years, making some good SQL stuff (I know, I talk about this all of the time), redesigning Jameson Designs (that will probably be the one thing that actually happens), and then some other crap I don't feel like listing. Went and saw the Manchurian Candidate with my mom... the sound went out for like 5 minutes so we got free passes to another movie, that's always cool. It was decent I guess, I still have a few questions though. But I'm hungry right now, bye.

08.04.04

Well Aqua Teen Hunger Force has been stricken from the Adult Swim nightly line-up. Replaced with Sealab 2021... which is funny, sure, but certainly not a worthy replacement by itself. So I guess I have no reason to stay up till 1 in the morning any more... which I suppose is actually a good thing. But I miss Meatwad already. But wait...

Somehow it isn't the same.

08.02.04

I updated my fish section, added a picture gallery (which is only exciting because I'm using a script I wrote in school to administrate it). Go check it out... or burn in hell. The choice is yours.

08.02.04

Another point from Anthony and Hackman! Nice! Thanks guys!

08.01.04

If you know me at all, I guess you probably think of me as quite the tomboy. I wear beat up adidas shoes I've had for 6 years, my nail polish is always chipped, and I still wear t-shirts I wore in highschool with skating brandnames plastered across them. I'm pretty tomboyish, this is true. I have a confession to make though... I'm completely giddy at the thought of picking out party favors for my graduation party. I made my own little announcement/invitation cards, got to pick the colors and stuff... and now I'm sitting here thinking about what kind of theme I want to have for my party. Then I'm thinking about how I could rearrange furniture in our house to best accommodate guests... and how I could get two different colors of cups and mix the stacks so the colors alternate... and how I could arrange all the plastic utensils and plates and napkins best. Man. What a CHICK I am sometimes... yikes.

08.01.04

Man... it's crazy point time. I just finished a cube, that's 6 points... plus a point from Hackman... I'm just rollin' in points. Sweet! Thanks hackman!

08.01.04

Ooh... looks like we may have us a new contender... a certain Kris has just donated 3 DewU points, putting him not very far off from third place holder Anthony, and putting the overall total points at 58... nice! We're running out of time here folks...! But what a glorious campaign it's been thus far!
